Located just 125km west of Arusha town facing the great Rift valley Escarpment and on the way to Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, Lake manyara is the ideal stop for most of the travelers exploring the Northern Tanzania parks. The park is referred the bird paradise where the alkaline soda of Lake Manyara acts as the home of the pink flamingo stop and graze by thousands, along with pink flamingo the park is rich for over 350 species of birds inhabiting the lake shores including pelicans, spoonbills, Egyptian geese, hammer kops and the migratory flamingoes, Yellow-billed storks and many other migratory bird species.
The park is also famous for its tree climbing lions which can occasionally be spotted in mahogany and acacia trees – another good reason to pay a visit to this park. Other animals found in the park include elephants, buffalo, baboons, impala, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, ostrich and hippos.
