Description
After Breakfast we will start to drive to Mkomazi National Park Gate. The distance to drive from Moshi town to Zange Gate (the main gate of the park) is approximately 112 kilometres and takes three hours. After the registration formalities, you and your guide will start a morning game drive to discover the treasures of this wedge of hilly semi-arid savannah – home of large herds of giraffe, eland, hartebeest, zebra, buffalo and elephant. Later on you proceed to Mbula Rhino Sanctuary to experience a highly endangered species of BLACK RHINO which were successfully reintroduced in 1990. Black rhino are restricted to a fenced sanctuary, ensuring their safe keeping for the enjoyment and prosperity of future generations. The Rhinos can be spotted from a close view.
Mkomazi is also a home to some rare species, including the spectacular fringe – eared Oryx, the handsome spiral – horned lesser kudu, the gerenuk which is a gazelle distinguished by its slender neck, bizarre alien – like head and having the habit of standing tall on its hind legs as it stretches for acacia leaves.
In the late afternoon there will be transport back to Moshi or Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay.
