The Lemosho route is considered as the most spectacular trail on Kilimanjaro and permits wide-ranging view scenery on various sides of the mountain. Lemosho is a magnificent choice for your climb because of its ideal combination of low crowds, beautiful scenery and a high summit success rate. Most clients climb Kilimanjaro using this route and they consistently report that they loved it. Thus, Lemosho is highly recommended. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rain forest to Shira Ridge. Most of the unique wildlife can often be seen . The Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira plateau. The descent is made through the Mweka gate.

    DAY 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

    Your Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route adventure begins with a warm welcome at the Kilimanjaro International Airport. From there, you will be transferred to your Hotel in Moshi or Arusha for an overnight stay. Dinner and Breakfast are Included. You will also meet your experienced mountain guide, who will accompany you throughout your 8-day journey on the Lemosho Route. Together, you will ensure that all necessary climbing gear for your Kilimanjaro climb on the Lemosho Route is in place and ready.

    On the second day of your Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route adventure, you'll depart from Moshi to Londorossi Gate, a journey that takes approximately 4 hours. At the gate, your guide will complete the necessary entry formalities. From there, you'll proceed with a scenic drive to the Lemosho trailhead, the starting point of your epic trek. The trail winds through an undisturbed rainforest, and as you ascend, you'll gradually transition to the unique ecosystem of the Lemosho Route.

    Your Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route journey continues as you leave the rainforest behind and venture into a savannah landscape filled with tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock adorned with lichen beards. The day's hike leads you through rolling hills and across pristine streams, eventually bringing you to the Shira Ridge. From there, you'll gently descend to Shira 1 Camp, where you'll catch your first glimpse of the majestic Kibo peak across the expansive plateau.

    Today, you'll explore the vast Shira Plateau on your Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route adventure. The journey involves a leisurely walk through moorland fields as you head towards Shira 2 Camp. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to divert from the main trail to Shira 2 Camp, a lesser-traveled site nestled at the base of Lent Hills. This area offers a variety of walks on Lent Hills, making it an excellent opportunity for acclimatization. The Shira Plateau, known for its breathtaking expanse, ranks among the highest plateaus on Earth.

    Day 5: Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp

    Your Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route adventure continues as you begin the day with an ascent to a ridge before heading southeast towards the Lava Tower, a prominent 300 ft tall volcanic rock formation. Descend to Barranco Camp through the unique and beautiful alpine desert terrain. Although you begin and end the day at the same elevation, spending time at higher altitudes is optional for acclimatization.

    Day 6: Barranco to Karanga Camp

    On this day, your Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route adventure includes descending into a ravine and ascending the Great Barranco Wall, a non-technical but steep 900 ft cliff. From the top of the Barranco Wall, your path leads you across a series of hills and valleys until you descend sharply into Karanga Valley. The day ends at Karanga Camp, designed as a shorter day for acclimatization.

    Departing from Karanga, you'll reach the junction that connects with the Mweka Trail. Barafu Hut offers stunning views of both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, providing a unique perspective on your Kilimanjaro climb along the Lemosho Route.

    Day 8: Barafu To Uhuru peak

    The climax of your Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route adventure begins very early in the morning, around midnight. You'll embark on the challenging push to the summit, where the extreme cold and wind at this high elevation pose a formidable challenge. Ascend through the darkness, taking brief but necessary breaks. Near Stella Point (18,900 ft), you'll be rewarded with a spectacular sunrise over Mawenzi Peak. Finally, arrive at Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the entire African continent.

    After reaching the summit, make your descent straight down to the Mweka Hut campsite, with a stop at Barafu for lunch. The trail is rocky and can be demanding on the knees, so trekking poles are recommended. Mweka Camp is situated in the upper forest, where mist or rain may be expected in the late afternoon. In the evening, enjoy your final dinner on the mountain and a well-deserved rest.

    Day 9: Descending from Mweka camp to Mweka gate

    On your last day, you'll continue your descent to Mweka Gate, where you'll collect your summit certificates. Lower elevations may be wet and muddy, contrasting with the high-altitude terrain you've grown accustomed to. From Mweka Gate, the journey continues for another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, marking the conclusion of your remarkable Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route adventure.
